After a third consecutive loss in IPL 2024, Punjab Kings are in trouble on the points table. They only have two wins from seven matches, which means they are in the second-last position.
After their defeat to Mumbai Indians by nine runs, it was clear that Punjab Kings were in serious trouble. Their regular captain, Shikhar Dhawan had to be out due to injury which meant a change in the leadership for Sam Curran.
The Punjab top order failed to fire and it was up to their lower order to try and salvage their day, but it was not meant to be.
In the next seven games, Punjab Kings face the enormous task of winning at least six of them to reach the playoffs. If Punjab Kings want to achieve the target of 16 points, the road ahead appears increasingly difficult. However, they need no fewer than 14 points if they want to go ahead in the playoffs.
Additionally, the matter is even more complicated with their net run rate, which is currently at -0.251. The battles ahead do not look easy. The next two matches this week are against Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, two of the strongest teams in the league currently.
