It was on 19 November 2023, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Indian cricket team last time. After losing the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia in Ahmedabad, the players were shattered. PM Modi held the hands of captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to cheer them up. He even gave pats to every player and the support staff in the dressing room.
Indian Cricket Team Met PM Narendra Modi In A Special Meeting
Now a little over seven months since that day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Team India again and hosted Team India, the T20 World Champions 2024, at a private ceremony at his residence in New Delhi in a completely different scenario. The Men in Blue are in a celebratory mood, wearing special jerseys with the word ‘champions’ written in bold on them.
Virat Kohli took his social media and shared a few pictures from the meeting with PM. Sharing the pictures, Kohli wrote:
“What a great honour meeting our honourable prime minister shri narendra modi ji today @narendramodi Thank you sir for inviting us to the prime ministers residence. 🇮🇳”

Team India Is Wearing A Special “CHAMPIONS” Jersey
The special jersey, in orange and blue with the word “CHAMPIONS” written at the center, was designed for Team India’s meeting with PM Modi. Notably, it is the same jersey that the Indian cricket team wore during the recently concluded World Cup 2024, but the only difference is the word ‘champions’ on their chest and an extra star on top of the BCCI logo. The two stars denote India’s two T20 World Cup trophies.
Earlier, India’s T20I jersey had only one star for their victory in the inaugural edition in 2007. India added another star to that by winning their title after 17 years under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
Indian Players Danced At The Airport Before Meeting The PM
After waiting for five days since winning the prestigious ICC T20 World Cup 2024 trophy by defeating South Africa in the final clash at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, the Indian cricket team finally landed in India.
As the team landed in Delhi, they were welcomed by Dhols. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, vice-captain Hardik Pandya, and star batter Suryakumar Yadav danced their hearts out with the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy and gold medals around their necks as they reached the Indira Gandhi Airport on Thursday.
