Most ODI CENTURIES : In the world of fast paced white ball cricket, there are core ODI cricket fans who crave for the subtle and smooth flow of game which gives them the satisfaction of seeing the best of batsman and bowlers throughout the game as the format is longer than the other white ball formats.
Along with that ODI cricket is also not as long as Test cricket so the result are declared on the same day and keeps the hardcore fans engaged to itself till the end. Although with the rise of T20 (Twenty overs) format the amount of entertainment and fans have shifted to more of the franchise cricket tournaments or leagues.
Let’s have a look at all the batting position from start to end, to know about the players who scored most ODI centuries at their respective position.
No. 1 Batting position
Sachin Tendulkar holds record for scoring the most ODI centuries at number one position with a total of 4 centuries. The master blaster of cricket has scored a ton of centuries in his cricket career and a total of 18,000+ runs in his cricket career which is the highest in the world.
Sachin’s straight drive was the best among all the batsman and still remains the same till date through which scored and smashed tons of fours to the pacers in the powerplay. His first century came against Australia in 1994 where he made 110 runs in the innings and his last century came in against Bangladesh at Mirpur which was his 100th international ton.
No. 2 Batting position
Rohit Sharma, the explosive right handed batsman of India who has scored a total of 29 ODI centuries and comes just after the Sachin for the most ODI centuries as well. Rohit led the team India to lift the T20 World Cup 2024 and was also very close to lifting the ODI World Cup 2023 but unfortunately the Rohit Sharma and co. got lost against Australia who silenced the crowd full of Indian fans in the stadium by their stellar performance.
No. 3 Batting position
Virat Kohli hold the position for scoring the most ODI centuries at no. 3 batting position. Virat has played an exceptional cricket in his cricket career where he lacked from his form for around a 1000 days but the day he got his form back, he started smashing runs like a beast.
He has scored a total of 43 centuries and currently there is no one near his position to compete with him for this record. He was awarded the man of the tournament in ODI World Cup 2023 and also won the Orange Cap for making the runs in IPL.
No. 4 Batting position
At number we have Ross Taylor from New Zealand, the skipper who took the batting standard of New Zealand in longer formats of cricket to the greater level. He has smashed nineteen ODI centuries at this batting position and initially there no active player near that record. At 2nd place in this queue of this record we have Ab de Viliers with over 15 ODI centuries.
No. 5 Batting position
The left handed saviour of India who fought from cancer not from the bed of hospital or home but between the 22 yards of pith facing ruthless bowlers like Brett Lee, Dale Steyn and Amir. Yuvraj Singh is known for his famous six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad in 2007, though he also hold this record by scoring a total of 7 centuries at number 5 batting position.
No. 6 Batting position
The skipper from England who has scored centuries at all batting position and is a versatile batsman in white ball cricket. He has scored a total of 4 ODI centuries at number 6 batting position and currently opens for the England, Jos Buttler also known as ‘Jos the boss’.
No. 7 Batting position
This record is shared between Ms Dhoni and Micheal Bracewell. Ms Dhoni is the most successfull captain of India and in the world as well. He has lifted 3 ICC trophies in his span of captaincy and he still played for the country after being removed from captaincy.
Michael Bracewell is an active player from New Zealand, who can break this record by surpassing the two ODI centuries he has scored till now which is same as Ms Dhoni.
No. 8 Batting position
This record is backed by two players from Ireland and Bangladesh, Simmi Singh and Mehidy Hasan Miraz each have scored one century in their cricket career at the batting position no. 8 which is the most ODI centuries scored at this batting down.
