Sri Lanka women’s team won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Sri Lanka team scored 93 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Nilakshi de Silva scored the highest unbeaten 29 runs. During this, she faced 40 balls.

Apart from her, Harshita Madavi scored 23 runs in 35 balls, wicketkeeper Anushka Sanjeevani scored 16 runs in 15 balls and Kavisha Dilhari scored 5 runs. Target achieved by losing 4 wickets

In reply, the Australian cricket team achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 14.2 overs. Opener Beth Mooney scored an unbeaten 43 runs off 38 balls. She also hit 4 fours in her innings.

Captain Alyssa Healy scored 4 runs, Georgia Wareham scored 3 runs, Alice Perry scored 17 runs and Ashleigh Gardner scored 12 runs. Phoebe Litchfield remained unbeaten on 9 runs. For Sri Lanka, Udeshika Prabodhini, Inoka Ranaweera, and Sugandhika Kumari took 1-1 wickets.

While chasing the target in the opening match of Women’s T20 World Cup, Scotland’s batting was poor and apart from Bryce, no other batsman could impress. Only three batsmen for Scotland were able to touch the double-digit mark.

Bryce was handling from the other end, but no one could stay at the crease to support him which became a big reason for Scotland’s defeat.
