Sachin Tendulkar holds record for scoring the most ODI centuries at number one position with a total of 4 centuries. The master blaster of cricket has scored a ton of centuries in his cricket career and a total of 18,000+ runs in his cricket career which is the highest in the world.

Rohit Sharma, the explosive right handed batsman of India who has scored a total of 29 ODI centuries and comes just after the Sachin for the most ODI centuries as well. Rohit led the team India to lift the T20 World Cup 2024 and was also very close to lifting the ODI World Cup 2023 but unfortunately the Rohit Sharma and co. got lost against Australia who silenced the crowd full of Indian fans in the stadium by their stellar performance.

No. 3 Batting position

Virat Kohli hold the position for scoring the most ODI centuries at no. 3 batting position. Virat has played an exceptional cricket in his cricket career where he lacked from his form for around a 1000 days but the day he got his form back, he started smashing runs like a beast.

At number we have Ross Taylor from New Zealand, the skipper who took the batting standard of New Zealand in longer formats of cricket to the greater level. He has smashed nineteen ODI centuries at this batting position and initially there no active player near that record. At 2nd place in this queue of this record we have Ab de Viliers with over 15 ODI centuries.

No. 5 Batting position

The left handed saviour of India who fought from cancer not from the bed of hospital or home but between the 22 yards of pith facing ruthless bowlers like Brett Lee, Dale Steyn and Amir. Yuvraj Singh is known for his famous six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad in 2007, though he also hold this record by scoring a total of 7 centuries at number 5 batting position.

The skipper from England who has scored centuries at all batting position and is a versatile batsman in white ball cricket. He has scored a total of 4 ODI centuries at number 6 batting position and currently opens for the England, Jos Buttler also known as ‘Jos the boss’.

No. 7 Batting position

This record is shared between Ms Dhoni and Micheal Bracewell. Ms Dhoni is the most successfull captain of India and in the world as well. He has lifted 3 ICC trophies in his span of captaincy and he still played for the country after being removed from captaincy.

Michael Bracewell is an active player from New Zealand, who can break this record by surpassing the two ODI centuries he has scored till now which is same as Ms Dhoni.

No. 8 Batting position

This record is backed by two players from Ireland and Bangladesh, Simmi Singh and Mehidy Hasan Miraz each have scored one century in their cricket career at the batting position no. 8 which is the most ODI centuries scored at this batting down.

Sam Curran was the hero for Oval Invincibles with a five-wicket haul, including a hat-trick. Oval Invincibles made it three wins from four in The Hundred with Sam Curran’s all-round heroics proving the difference between two sides fighting it out for bragging rights in the capital.

Beyond the emotions of the moment, the Indian players singing “Vande Mataram” also sparked memories of India’s incredible 2011 ODI World Cup victory. Team India Is Wearing A Special “CHAMPIONS” Jersey

The special jersey, in orange and blue with the word “CHAMPIONS” written at the center, was designed for Team India’s meeting with PM Modi. Notably, it is the same jersey that the Indian cricket team wore during the recently concluded World Cup 2024, but the only difference is the word ‘champions’ on their chest and an extra star on top of the BCCI logo. The two stars denote India’s two T20 World Cup trophies.

Earlier, India’s T20I jersey had only one star for their victory in the inaugural edition in 2007. India added another star to that by winning their title after 17 years under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

The aim of the 2024 T20 World Cup, which was hosted by the USA and the West Indies, was to increase cricket’s popularity in the US. Stadiums in Dallas and New York were packed with American fans, proving the tournament’s ability to promote the growth of the sport.

Their journey did not end there as they pulled off a sensational victory against Australia to reach the semi-finals exceeding everyone’s expectations. Even Scotland came close to a Super 8 falling short only on the net run rate.

India and South Africa were the two undefeated teams playing in the final of the T20 World Cup for the first time. With victories in all seven of their campaign’s games—all of which were close contests that powered the greatest T20 World Cup debate—They had a perfect run.

The actual final was a difficult situation. Many predicted that South Africa would win easily, needing just 27 runs from 28 deliveries with six wickets left. But a strong bowling attack from India and some smart leadership choices turned the tide, setting up a thrilling climax that had fans on the edge of their seats right up until the very last delivery.

Virat Kohli, who was going through a tough time with the bat, stood out for his team. He top-scored with the bat with 76 off 59 balls, smashing six fours and two sixes. He brought the much-needed momentum back to the game after India had lost Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant in quick successions.

Axar Patel, who was promoted up in the batting order, played a quick-fire knock of 47 runs off 31, while Shivam Dube also contributed with a crucial innings of 27 runs off 16 balls, smashing a few stunning boundaries.

In the third One-Day International of the three-match series in 2019, Kohli hit yet another amazing hundred in a chase as India defeated the West Indies by six wickets in Port of Spain. The Men in Blue were supposed to chase a DLS target of 255 in 35 overs, but thanks to Kohli, they were all out in 32.3 overs.

The right-handed batsman took the team to the target by storm, hitting an undefeated 114 off 99 balls. During his 127-minute performance on the crease, he hit 14 fours with a strike rate of 115.15 and India won the series single-handily with a 2-0. In the chase, Rohit was out for ten runs, but Kohli and Dhawan (36) put up 66 runs for the second wicket. Although Kohli and Shreyas Iyer (65 off 41) set the stage for India’s victory with a 120-run partnership, Rishabh Pant fell for a golden duck.

From the beginning of his innings, Kohli appeared well-prepared and reached his fifty runs off of just 48 balls. He hit two consecutive fours off Jason Holder in the 22nd over. With a single flip to deep midwicket, Kohli scored his hundred after hitting Roach for two fours in the 31st over. 2. West Indies Tri-Nation Series, 4th Match, July 2013-  102 off 83

Against the West Indies in Port of Spain, during the fourth game of a 2013 tri-series that also included Sri Lanka, Kohli hammered 102 off 83 balls. Sent to bat, the Men in Blue scored 311-7 thanks to the hitting prowess of the No. 3 batter, who hammered 13 fours and two sixes in his 120-minute outing.

India got off to a strong start with Rohit Sharma (46) and Dhawan (69) adding 123 for the first wicket. Building on this, Kohli guided Team India beyond the 310-run threshold. In the 43rd over, the Men in Blue hitter amassed a modest half-century with a single off Tino Best.

As the Indian innings came to a close, Virat Kohli began to open up and quickly reached another hundred. He hit a back-foot drive off Dwayne Bravo to start the 48th over, lofting it over extra cover for a maximum. After two fours in the penultimate over, he blasted Kemar Roach. While attempting to chase Bravo, Kohli was out on the final ball of the inning.

The Windies were dismissed for 171 in 34 overs, failing to reach the revised goal of 274 in 39 overs, thanks to three wickets apiece from pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav.

In the fifth One-Day International (ODI) of the five-match series against the West Indies in July 2017, India’s superstar Virat Kohli scored 111* off 115, one of his many tons of chases. With 79 balls remaining, the Men in Blue managed to reach their target of 206 thanks to yet another brilliant innings from Kohli, taking eight wickets.

As the Captain, the star batsman Virat Kohli hit 12 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. Kohli partnered with Rahane and they both reached a combined 79 runs, with Ajinkya Rahane scoring 39 off 51 balls and Virat Kohli still on the crease with 39 off 51 balls. After Rahane gets out Virat shares the crease with Dinesh Karthik scored 50* off 52 balls and reached 122 runs team total.

Kohli hit Ashley Nurse to the deep extra cover boundary to achieve his half-century off 67 balls. By snipping a half-volley from Kesrick Williams between mid-on and midwicket for a boundary, he scored three figures, his 28th ODI century. The right-hander styledly completed the victory for Team India by hitting a maximum off a flighted ball from Roston Chase over long-on.

The Indian skipper is another big name who could be appearing in his last World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean. Rohit Sharma is one of the two players (the other being Angelo Mathews of Sri Lanka) who have contested in each edition of the T20 World Cup since its inception.

Sharma donned the Indian cap to mark his international debut with a one-day match against Ireland in Belfest on 23 June, 2007. He was a part of the team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

The 37-year-old has had a great run as a captain for the Indian team. He would look to end his World Cup campaign on a high and bring home the World Cup 2024 silverware.

Kane Williamson (New Zealand)

Kane Williamson has led New Zealand to victory in the ICC 2021 World Test Championship and to the finals of the 2019 Cricket World Cup and 2021 T20 World Cup.

Williamson (33) was first included in the New Zealand squad in March 2010 for the second Test against Australia. However, he could not play the match. He then made his debut for the black caps in an ODI match against India in August 2010. 

Quinton de Kock (South Africa)

Quinton de Kock (31) announced his retirement from one-day internationals before playing in the 2023 World Cup. The South African opener is known for his dashing batting style.

The wicket-keeper batsman made his international debut in the first match of a home T20 series against New Zealand in December 2012.

South Africa hasn’t won any ICC trophy and if the team looks to win the T20 World Cup 2024, then de Kock has a crucial role to play.

Angelo Mathews (Sri Lanka)

Angelo Mathews (37) was part of the Sri Lankan team that won the ICC 2014 T20 World Cup and made it to the finals of the 2011 Cricket World Cup, 2009 T20 World Cup 2012 World Cup.

Mathews, (37), marked his debut for the Sri Lankan national team with an ODI match against Zimbabwe in 2008.

The Sri Lankan all-rounder has played all the editions of the ICC T20 World Cup. He holds the superfluous record of being the first batter in the history of international cricket to be timed out without facing a single delivery.

The captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Babar Azam will be seen in action on Thursday in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 match against the USA. The much-anticipated match will take place at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

Babar would be looking forward to putting up a big show and helping his side get the better of the USA in their first match of the ongoing marquee tournament.

Babar Azam Is All Set To Break Virat Kohli’s Big World Record

During the match against the USA, the superstar batter will have a chance to create history and become the leading run-getter in T20Is.

Having amassed 4023 runs to his name in 119 T20Is, Babar needs only 16 runs to break Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs in T20Is. Virat Kohli had a forgettable outing in India’s campaign opener in the T20 World Cup 2024. He has 4038 runs to his name.

As of now, Babar Azam is sitting in the number 3 position on the list of batters with the most runs in the shortest format of the game. Apart from Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma has also scored more runs than him.

The Indian captain has 4026 runs in 152 T20I matches he has played so far. He has scored 52 runs from 37 balls against Ireland in New York to help the Indian cricket team start the campaign with an 8-wicket win.
