USA fast bowler Saurabh Netravalkar has made a name for himself in the T20 World Cup 2024 being held in the USA and West Indies this month and now has a chance of earning an IPL contract. Netravalkar started grabbing attention with his match-winning spell in the super over against Pakistan where he defended 19 runs to help the USA register a historic win against a Test Playing for only the third time having done so against Bangladesh in the three-match series prior to the T20 World Cup which the Monak Patel led side won by a margin of 2-1.

 Netravalkar continued the rich vain of form he was in in the next match against India where he made a low total of 111 difficult for the Men in Blue to chase on a helpful wicket in New York. Saurabh’s performance has made it possible for America to dream of making it to the next round i.e. the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup.

The Chances

Netravalkar who has been well supported by other bowlers through the three matches that Ameria has played in the T20 World Cup so far can become only the second American cricketer to be picked up by a team in the Indian Premier League.

The Hardik Pandya-led side is one of the teams that can bid for Saurabh Netravalkar in the IPL 2025 auction chances of which are quite high. One of the reasons why Mumbai will go after him in order to have him in the squad is the team’s weak bowling attack. Among many problems that MI faced in the season gone by was the team’s not-so-strong bowling which looked erratic with only Bumrah being the shining light.

The addition of Netravalkar will bring another dimension to MI’s bowling lineup as the fast bowler due to his height can extract extra bounce which can rush the batters and adds a unique dimension to what looks like a one-dimensional bowling attack.

The Rishabh Pant-led side is another team that can go after Netravalkar in the IPL 2025 player auction. Although Delhi Capitals were praised for their aggressive batting throughout the tournament the team’s bowling failed miserably and had one of the worst economy rates in the tournament gone by.

Netravalkar’s addition will provide the much-needed control to an otherwise erratic bowling lineup which includes the likes of Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, and Ishant Sharma all of whom are renowned names in the world of cricket.

Gujarat Titans

A Team with a memorable first two IPL seasons since making its debut in 2022 was found wanting for a quality new ball bowler in the last season of IPL. With Shami being injured Gujarat Titans who was led by an inexperienced captain Shubhman Gill found it difficult to pick up wickets with the new ball.

Saurabh’s inclusion in the team would strengthen the team’s bowling lineup and would provide a good bowling partner to Shami who will have the opportunity to bowl alongside a young bowling lineup and share valuable insights with them which he has gained through playing international cricket for over a decade.
