The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is a big event in women’s cricket that brings together the best players from around the world. Australia has won the title six times, while England and the West Indies have won it once each.

1. Claire Taylor (2009)

Claire Taylor played a key role in helping England win the 2009 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. She was the second-highest run-scorer, with 199 runs in just four innings. She had a great strike rate of 135 and was only out once. Some of her best innings included 75 runs off 54 balls against Sri Lanka and an unbeaten 76 off 53 balls against Australia.

2. Nicola Browne (2010)

Nicola Browne from New Zealand was a star in the 2010 tournament. She was one of the top wicket-takers, with nine wickets in five matches. Browne had an average of 8.55 and an economy rate of 4.81. Even though New Zealand lost to Australia in the final, her great bowling earned her the Player of the Tournament award.

3. Charlotte Edwards (2012)

In 2012, England captain Charlotte Edwards was the best with the bat. She scored 172 runs in five innings, averaging 43, and was the top scorer of the competition. Although England lost to Australia in the final, Edwards was still named Player of the Tournament for her great batting.

4. Anya Shrubsole (2014)

Anya Shrubsole became the third English player to win the PoTT award in the 2014 World Cup. She took 13 wickets in six matches, with an average of 7.53 and an economy rate just over 4. Even though England couldn’t beat Australia in the final, Shrubsole’s bowling was outstanding.

5. Stafanie Taylor (2016)

West Indies all-rounder Stafanie Taylor had one of the best performances ever in the 2016 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. She led the West Indies to their first title by beating Australia in the final. Taylor scored 246 runs and took eight wickets, showing her all-around skills.

6. Alyssa Healy (2018)

Alyssa Healy’s strong batting was a big reason Australia won the 2018 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. She scored 225 runs, averaging 56.25, and her strike rate was 144.23. Healy’s attacking play made her the Player of the Tournament as Australia won the trophy.

7. Beth Mooney (2020)

Beth Mooney led Australia to another title in the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup. While Healy didn’t perform well in most of the matches, Mooney stepped up and scored 259 runs in six innings, with an average of 64.75. Her steady batting earned her the PoTT award as Australia won the World Cup on home soil.

8. Ashleigh Gardner (2023)

Ashleigh Gardner’s all-around performance helped Australia win their third T20 World Cup in a row in 2023. She took 10 wickets, including a best of 5/12, and also scored 110 runs from the lower middle order. Her excellent contributions with both bat and ball made her the Player of the Tournament.

9. Amelia Kerr (2024)

New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr has taken 15 wickets in the ICC women’s T20 World Cup 2024, making her the best bowler in one tournament’s history.

She has passed England’s Anya Shrubsole and Australia’s Megan Schutt, who each took 13 wickets in 2014 and 2020. Also, South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba is close behind with 12 wickets in 2024.

Since the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup started in 2009, six teams have made it to the final match. At first, only eight teams competed, but later the number grew to ten. Three teams have won the tournament, while six teams have made it to the finals. Pakistan and Sri Lanka, even though they have played in all eight editions, have never reached the final.

6. South Africa – 1 Final

South Africa made it to their first Women’s T20 World Cup final in 2023, which took place in their own country. Before that, they reached the semi-finals in 2014 and 2020 but couldn’t go further. In 2023, led by captain Sune Luus, they got to the final but lost to Australia by 19 runs.

5. India – 1 Final

India has made it to the semi-finals five times (2009, 2010, 2018, 2020, 2023). In 2020, under Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership, India reached their first final but lost to Australia by 85 runs.

4. West Indies – 1 Final

The West Indies reached the Women’s T20 World Cup final for the first time in 2016, held in India. Led by Stafanie Taylor, they not only made it to the final but also won the tournament by beating Australia. Taylor’s all-round performance earned her the Player of the Tournament award.

England won the very first Women’s T20 World Cup in 2009, beating New Zealand. They reached the final again in 2012, 2014, and 2018 but lost each time to Australia.

Australia is the most successful team in Women’s T20 World Cup history. They have appeared in seven finals and won six titles. They were champions in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2023. Their only loss in a final came in 2016 when they were defeated by the West Indies.
