He’s extended his contract with Yorkshire until the end of 2028! For a player who has grown through the ranks and spent his entire career with this iconic county, this move will excite fans across England and beyond.

Jonny Bairstow: Yorkshire’s Proud Captain

Jonny Bairstow is no ordinary cricketer. He’s got the skills, the fierce determination, and the leadership qualities that make him stand out. Over the years, he’s not only dazzled on the pitch but has also led Yorkshire with passion and pride. Being the heart of the team, keeping wickets, scoring crucial runs, and motivating his teammates, he has become more than just a player; he’s the face of Yorkshire cricket.

This extension isn’t just a contract; it’s a statement. Bairstow has made it clear where his loyalty lies, and that is with Yorkshire. Having started his cricket journey in Yorkshire’s age-group teams, he knows the culture deeply, and staying until 2028 means he’s ready to keep building the team’s future. Fans can breathe easy knowing that this star won’t be leaving anytime soon.

It’s also great news for Yorkshire because Jonny Bairstow brings experience and excitement to the team. Plus, as captain, his calm and collected leadership boosts the team’s performance even when the pressure is on.

Jonny Bairstow’s Journey With Yorkshire

Jonny Bairstow’s journey with Yorkshire has been remarkable. From his early days to becoming England’s star international player, he’s always carried the Yorkshire spirit with him. He’s played for England in Tests, ODIs, and T20S, but Yorkshire has always been his home base, and this contract extension confirms his commitment to the club’s success.

This new deal also comes as Yorkshire aims to climb higher in county cricket competitions. With Bairstow at the helm, the team hopes to regain dominance and win more titles. His presence encourages young players coming up through the system, inspiring them to work hard and dream big.

The masterful leg-spinner has confirmed his return to Northamptonshire for the 2026 season, marking his third consecutive summer with the English county side.

And yes, this comeback is not just about taking wickets; it’s also about bringing some serious spin wisdom to the young guns hungry for guidance.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s Stint With Northamptonshire

Yuzvendra Chahal’s stint with Northamptonshire will kick off in the second half of the 2026 season, where he’ll be seen unleashing his magic both in the County Championship and the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.

The man who’s already taken 44 first-class wickets and seven List A wickets at Wantage Road is upping his game this time around, adding mentorship to his role, helping nurture promising spinners like Nirvan Ramesh and Stuart van der Merwe. Talk about carrying the torch while still being a wicket-taking machine!

Northamptonshire head coach Darren Lehmann is absolutely buzzing about Yuzvendra Chahal’s return. He called Yuzi “a magnificent asset to the squad,” bringing loads of class, experience, and spin wizardry to the team. Lehmann isn’t just excited about Chahal’s impact on the pitch; he’s equally pumped about the mentorship Chahal provides to the up-and-coming talent. That experience? Priceless.

Now, Yuzvendra Chahal’s 2025 at Northants was cut short due to some personal reasons, but his love for the club and the county circuit never faded. “I’m so excited to be back,” Chahal said, and it shows. At 35, there’s still plenty of cricket left in the tank for this spinner who has been a key bowler for India in white-ball cricket with over 200 wickets under his belt.

That’s your fast take on Chahal’s much-anticipated comeback, a story of cricket, passion, and the joy of mentoring the next generation. Stay tuned; 2026 is going to be spinner heaven at Wantage Road!

The 28-year-old left-arm spinner made an immediate impact across the cricket world in just the two matches he played, showcasing his skill and adaptability in foreign conditions.

A Dream Debut

In his very first game against Yorkshire at Scarborough, Sai Kishore made a promising start by taking four wickets in a drawn match. He shared that his experience in England reinforced his confidence in his red-ball game and his ability to take wickets on various pitches.

His standout performance came in the second match against Durham at Chester-le-Street, where he was pivotal in Surrey’s five-wicket victory. Sai Kishore achieved his maiden five-wicket haul for Surrey by taking 5 for 72 in Durham’s second innings. His bowling played a crucial role in restricting the opposition and paving the way for Surrey’s successful chase of 176 runs.

Unfavourable Conditions

Despite battling a groin strain, Sai Kishore’s control and spin were instrumental in providing his captain with crucial breakthroughs, earning praise from Surrey skipper Rory Burns, who highlighted his ability to control one end and inject energy into the team.

Before the stint, Sai Kishore worked on fine-tuning his bowling action with his coach in Chennai, which helped him quickly adapt and perform at the top level in English conditions. His leadership qualities and four-day cricket experience for Tamil Nadu also earned him high regard within the Surrey squad.

Overall, Sai Kishore’s dream debut stint with Surrey not only enhanced his reputation as a capable red-ball bowler but also boosted his confidence to succeed as a spinner in tough overseas conditions, making it a promising chapter in his cricketing career.

Nottinghamshire signed on a short-term contract to make up for Kyle Verreynne’s absence as he is away for international duty. His aggressive batting against Yorkshire at Trent Bridge on 23 June 2026 turned heads as he made his remarkable debut for county cricket.

Ishan Kishan’s Dream Debut At County Championship

Ishan Kishan came at number six and scored 87 runs off 98 balls, with 12 fours and a six. This resulted in a strike rate close to 89, marking a dream debut for Kishan. His innings were marked by fearless stroke play, which helped stabilise and boost the team’s total to overcome 450 runs.

Ishan Kishan’s dream debut eventually ended by England spinner Dom Bess, and he narrowly missed a century. However, it doesn’t overshadow the outstanding performance he gave yesterday.

Out Of The Indian Squad Since…

Before his county stint, Ishan Kishan had been out of the Indian team since December 2023, after he decided to opt out for the South Africa Test Series. Although he has played only two Tests for India with a fifty to his name, Kishan is known for his attacking skills in limited-overs cricket. He boasts an ODI average over 42 with a double century and nearly 800 T20I runs at a strike rate of 124. His recent IPL season with Sunrisers Hyderabad was productive, scoring 354 runs at an average of 35.40 and a strike rate above 152, including a century.

Future Hopes For Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan’s strong start in England comes at a great time as he aims to stay in the selectors’ frame for future India matches, having recently reclaimed a BCCI central contract in the C-grade bracket.

This signing marks a major development for Hampshire as Perry is widely regarded as one of the greatest female cricketers of all time. Her involvement is not only expected to strengthen the team’s lineup but also boost her personal record in English cricket.

On 11 April 2025, Hampshire County Cricket Club announced on their official website, “Ellyse Perry Signs For Hampshire. Her record across all formats speaks for itself, and she will add a tremendous amount of value on and off the pitch. Our group of young players will learn so much from Ellyse, and I know our fans will be incredibly excited to see her in a Hawks shirt.”
