Indian left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore has been signed by Surrey to play two Division One matches in the English County Championship later this month.
This short-term stint marks Kishore’s debut in English county cricket, making him the latest Indian spinner to feature in the prestigious tournament. The 28-year-old Tamil Nadu and Gujarat Titans player will bolster Surrey’s squad as they look to maintain their top position in Division One.
Sai Kishore’s Recent Performance
Kishore’s selection comes on the back of a string of impressive performances. In the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), he was a standout for Gujarat Titans, picking up 19 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 20.68, with best figures of 3/30. He also recently led IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans to their maiden Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title, finishing as one of the tournament’s leading wicket-takers.
In first-class cricket, Kishore has an outstanding record: 192 wickets in 46 matches at an average of 23.5, including 12 five-wicket hauls and a ten-wicket match haul. He has also represented India in three T20 Internationals, taking four wickets.
When, Where, and How Long: The Details
Sai Kishore will be available for Surrey’s next two County Championship fixtures:
- First Match: Against Yorkshire at Scarborough, from July 22 to July 25. This game could see him face his former Chennai Super Kings teammate Ruturaj Gaikwad, now playing for Yorkshire.
- Second Match: Against Durham at Chester-le-Street, from July 29 to August 1.
Both matches will be played with the Kookaburra ball, and Kishore’s stint will conclude after these two fixtures.
Sai Kishore On The Deal
Sai Kishore expressed his excitement and said,”I’m really excited to be joining Surrey for the next two County Championship matches. Surrey are one of the most prestigious clubs in the world and I have heard great things about the set-up from lots of different people in the game,”
Alec Stewart, Surrey’s high-performance advisor, stated, “I’m delighted to bring the highly rated Sai Kishore into our squad for the next two Kookaburra games. All the reports I have received from people I respect in the Indian game have spoken highly of him. His four-day record for Tamil Nadu is very good and he brings leadership experience to the group”.
