Kasun Rajitha has joined Essex on a five-match deal for the Rothesay County Championship 2025. This marks his debut for Essex and reunited him with Chris Silverwood, Essex’s director of cricket and a former Sri Lankan head coach. He expressed his delight and said, “We are delighted to welcome Kasun to Essex and very much look forward to watching him perform in the County Championship. I know his experience and skill set will certainly help strengthen our already superb bowling attack.”
Kasun Rajitha is an established international cricketer who has represented Sri Lanka in all three formats. He has played 18 test matches, claiming 55 wickets with an average of 29.58, including a career-best score of 5 wickets for 56 runs against Bangladesh. He has been a consistent performer and is known for his right-arm-medium bowling, having impressed in tournaments like the Super T20 Provincial Tournament, where he was the second-highest wicket-taker.

During his stint with Essex, Kasun Rajitha will participate in five county championship matches starting against Worcestershire. These games will give him the necessary experience in English cricket, and his performance will be closely monitored as he adapts to the conditions.
