In the last Women’s T20 World Cup i.e. 2023, the winning team Australia was given a prize money of US $ 1 million, which has been increased by about 134% in this edition.

The prize money of the runner-up team has also more than doubled. The ICC has also more than doubled the prize money for the runner-up team of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. However, in the last edition, the runner-up team South Africa was given a prize money of 5 lakh US dollars, this time a prize money of 1.17 million US dollars will be given. The prize money of the runner-up team has been increased by 134%.

Prize money for semi-finalist teams increased more than three times. In this edition, the prize money of both the semi-finalist teams (teams losing semi-finals) has been increased three times. While in the last edition, the semi-finalist teams were given US $ 210,000. This time both the semi-finalist teams will get US $ 675,000.

Overall prize money also increased more than three times. The ICC has increased the overall prize money of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 by more than three times compared to last time. ICC Womens T20 World Cup 2024 Prize Money: Winners of individual matches and teams eliminated from the group stage will also get a hefty amount

The International Cricket Council has informed that the teams winning individual matches during the group stage will get a prize money of US$ 31,154. Apart from this, the prize pool of US$ 1.35 million will be divided among the 6 teams eliminated before the semi-finals based on their ranking. In 2023, this prize pool was US$ 180,000 and was divided equally, but this time it is not so.

For example, the teams finishing third or fourth in their group will get US$ 270,000, while the teams finishing fifth in their respective groups will get US$ 135,000. “I said it at the toss as well. Quite unsure of what to expect from the pitch. Not aware on what it is to play like on a pitch that’s five months old. I don’t think the wicket settled down even when we batted second. There was enough for the bowlers.”

He added: “There was enough for the bowlers. That’s pretty much what you gotta do. Try to hit those lengths consistently. All these guys have played a lot of Test cricket. Arshdeep is the only guy who hasn’t. His two wickets upfront set the tone for us.”

The Indian cricket team will now take on Pakistan in their next match on June 9th at the same venue.
